#MOGALI REKULU SERIAL EPISODE 28 SERIAL#
One can never forget the impact Guddeda Bhootha (a Kannada Serial in DD in those times), made in Karnataka, particulary in Dakshina Kannada District.

Of course, now we have whole bunch of channels dedicated for music, serving TV audience. This used to be the only music programmes featuring film songs.

Then there was Chitrahaar the programme featuring Hindi film songs and for Kannadigas we had the Chithramanjari. So hardly anybody watches TV now with the same eagerness in the DD days. And there is one more thing, not all of them have the same taste. But what I have observed in the households I have visited is that, more time is spent in the browsing of channels than in watching any. Now we have channels, dedicated exclusively for movies, but the enthusiasm to watch the movies in TV, certainly has died.Īgreed that one has a lot of channels to explore now covering from news, music, sports, movies, religion and everything what you can put on TV. Movies only during the weekends, how eagerly we were waiting for the time to roll over to the show timings. Then we had Surabhi, what I can say about this program which used to be the complete 'Bharath Darshan',which used to come at Sunday night 9. There was a time when we never used to miss Ramayan or Mahabharath at 9 in Sunday morning. Most of them if not everyone, in their 20's now, must have grown up watching DD. But there was one time, when only DD ruled.

Kingdom Hearts Final Mix features changes from the original version, including bosses present in the English version, but not in the original Japanese version. And a similar list of old-time commercials is here.Īlso many people have written blogs about there memories of early Doordarshan days. A near-exhaustive list of serials is here. Many things have come out of the discussions we have had on this community. The community discusses these serials and other things about Doordarshan, such as old advertisements, public interest messages, news shows, etc.Īnd almost certainly, once in a few days, someone drags us into getting senti over our chidlhood days. You require a Google Account to access it.

You can find a few people who cherish that time and those serials, on the Old Doordarshan Serials community on Orkut. Just to remind you, a few of these truly excellent works of art are: Malgudi days, Mirza Ghalib, Yeh jo hai zindagi, Trishna, Intezaar, Bharat ek khoj, Mujarim Hazir, Yugantaar, Katha saagar, Kab tak pukaroon, Hum log, Shrikaant, Byomkesh Bakshi, Karamchand, Neem ka ped, Apna Apna Aasmaan. However, simplicity, closeness to reality of the plots, mature direction, quality acting, diversity of subjects, and social relevance are somethings that characterized serials of those times.

Its difficult to single out reasons for liking those old serials. Today a lot of other private broacasters have captured the mainstream television in India, but there are still a few of us who cherish those olden days of DD. Till mid-90s it was not alone, but was still the most prominent one. Till early-90s Doordarshan was the only boradcaster in India. Doordarshan hosted a range of high-quality shows in its early days.
